LISTEN SAFELY
Safe Listening Guidance
Important guidance for using reedooyoo recordings safely and deciding whether they are suitable for you.
Because reedooyoo recordings use relaxation, focused attention, guided imagery and therapeutic suggestion, it is important that you listen safely and only when they are right for you. This guidance applies whether you access reedooyoo through your workplace, organisation, team, business or another authorised group licence. Only listen when you are somewhere safe, quiet and comfortable, where you can relax without needing to remain alert.
DETAILED GUIDANCE
Using reedooyoo safely
Please read the guidance below before listening. Open each section for information about safe use, suitability and what to do if you feel uncomfortable.
01 — LISTEN ONLY WHEN IT IS SAFE TO RELAX
Do not listen to reedooyoo recordings while doing anything that requires your full attention.
This includes:
Driving, cycling or walking near roads
Operating machinery or cooking with heat, knives or other hazards
Supervising children when your full attention is needed
Working, exercising or doing anything where attention, balance, coordination, judgement or reaction time matters
Drinking alcohol or using recreational drugs
Doing anything where becoming deeply relaxed or sleepy could put you or somebody else at risk
Only listen when you are somewhere safe, quiet and comfortable, where you can relax fully.
02 — DO NOT USE THE RECORDINGS IN A CRISIS
reedooyoo is not an emergency, medical or crisis-support service, and its recordings are not a substitute for urgent medical or mental-health care.
Do not use a recording as your main form of support if you are in crisis, feel unsafe, are at risk of harming yourself or somebody else, or are experiencing severe distress.
If there is immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E. If you need urgent mental-health support, call NHS 111 and select the mental-health option, contact your GP or local crisis team, or call Samaritans free on 116 123.
If you access reedooyoo through work, you may also contact your organisation’s HR, wellbeing, occupational-health or employee-assistance service where appropriate.

03 — WHEN THE RECORDINGS MAY NOT BE SUITABLE
Self-guided hypnotherapy may not be suitable for everyone.
Speak with an appropriately qualified healthcare or mental-health professional before listening if you have schizophrenia or a history of psychosis, epilepsy, or have been advised by a healthcare professional to avoid hypnosis, guided imagery or deep-relaxation techniques.
If you are currently in severe distress, feel unsafe or need urgent mental-health support, use appropriate professional or urgent support rather than a recording.
04 — EPILEPSY AND SEIZURE CONDITIONS
If you have epilepsy or a seizure condition, speak with your GP, neurologist or epilepsy specialist before using reedooyoo recordings.
Follow the advice in your treatment plan and do not listen if you have been advised to avoid hypnosis, guided imagery or deep relaxation.
Stop listening if you feel unwell, unusual, disorientated or unsafe, and seek appropriate medical advice.
05 — MEDICATION, ALCOHOL AND DRUGS
Do not listen while under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs.
If prescribed medication causes drowsiness, dizziness, dissociation, sedation or changes in awareness, use caution and ask your GP, prescriber or pharmacist if you are unsure whether listening is appropriate.
Never stop or change prescribed medication because of a reedooyoo recording. Discuss medication decisions with an appropriate healthcare professional.

06 — PREGNANCY
reedooyoo recordings are not a replacement for medical, midwifery or antenatal care.
If you have pregnancy complications, are receiving specialist care or are unsure whether a particular recording is suitable, speak with your midwife, GP or healthcare professional before listening.
Listen only in a position that is comfortable and safe for your stage of pregnancy, and stop if you feel unwell or uncomfortable.
07 — TRAUMA, GRIEF AND STRONG EMOTIONS
If a recording brings up strong emotions, memories, body sensations or realisations. These responses should remain manageable.
Stop listening and seek appropriate support if you experience:
Panic or flashbacks
Feeling detached from reality
Overwhelming distress or emotional flooding
Urges to harm yourself
Difficulty settling after the recording has ended
For trauma, grief, abuse or complex emotional difficulties, personalised professional support may be more appropriate than self-guided recordings.
08 — AGE & ACCESS
reedooyoo workplace access is intended for authorised users aged 16 and over.
Accounts and recordings must not be shared with anyone who is not covered by the organisation’s licence.
reedooyoo is a self-help wellbeing resource and is not a crisis, medical or counselling service.
09 — WHEN TO STOP LISTENING
Stop the recording immediately if you feel:
Unsafe, panicky or physically unwell
Dizzy or disorientated
Emotionally overwhelmed or distressed by the content
Detached from reality
Unable to continue comfortably
You remain in control. Open your eyes, move your body, pause or stop the recording, and give yourself time to become fully alert.
If symptoms are severe, persist or make you feel unsafe, seek appropriate medical or mental-health support.
10 — THE BEST WAY TO LISTEN
Before listening:
Choose a safe place where you will not be disturbed
Sit or lie down comfortably and make sure you are warm enough
Use headphones if you wish, at a comfortable volume
Allow enough uninterrupted time for the full recording
Avoid listening when you must be fully alert immediately afterwards, unless the session is clearly described as a daytime reset or booster
Do not try to force a particular feeling or result
Simply listen and follow the recording in whatever way feels natural.
11 — WHAT IF I FALL ASLEEP?
Falling asleep during a recording can happen, particularly with sleep-focused sessions.
For a bedtime recording, this may be exactly what you want. If you repeatedly fall asleep during daytime sessions, try listening earlier in the day or while sitting more upright.
12 — WHAT IF I FEEL EMOTIONAL AFTERWARDS?
You may feel emotional, thoughtful, lighter, calmer or more reflective after listening.
If you feel settled afterwards, give yourself a few moments before returning to demanding activity.
If a recording leaves you distressed or unsettled, stop using it and seek appropriate support.
13 — YOUR SUITABILITY
Because reedooyoo is self-guided, it cannot assess whether a particular recording is suitable for you.
reedooyoo provides hypnotherapy audio for everyday wellbeing and personal development. The recordings are not individually tailored medical or psychological treatment, and access through an employer or organisation does not mean that a recording has been clinically assessed for you.
If you are unsure whether hypnotherapy is appropriate for you, seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare or mental-health professional before listening.
